HomeGroups, which are a feature of Windows 7 and Windows 8 that causes complications with most media players are automatically disabled. Frustrating. I know it seems not likely but after upgrade's to the OS it can change your computer name. I don't want to reboot everything each time we want to watch a movie, or is this the way it is supposed to work?

All computers on the network and the WDTV Live need to belong to the same workgroup.  WDTV Live will look for the name "WORKGROUP" first and try other options to connect If you disabled password protection on shares you should not have to "log in" to a shared folder on your computer from the WDTV.  Make sure you have shared folder set Media Sharing should now be turned on and we’re ready to get some folders shared.
